International projects

In addition to our projects in Norway, Youth Mental Health Norway also works internationally because good mental health is equally important for all young people across the world. Alongside our partner organizations, we focus on advocacy, information sharing, building accessible health services and youth participation.

We currently work with partners in Ethiopia and Uganda on mental health projects and aspire to extend our project portfolio as our experience and expertise develops. You can read more about the projects in Ethiopia and Uganda further down the page.

In February 2022, Youth Mental Health Norway co-hosted the Global Disability Youth Summit together with the Atlas Alliance, Unicef and IDA. It was a digital summit for and by youth with disabilities and the very first of its kind. If you would like to learn more about the Summit, its outcomes and how you can still engage, please visit the project page.

About Youth Mental Health Norway

Youth Mental Health Norway is a member-based interest organization for children and young people up to the age of 36. We work for increased transparency about mental health, prevention of mental illness and for better mental health services. Our values are Courage, Openness and Equality.

Our goal is for all children and young people to have the best mental health possible.

Our priority is to make the experience-based knowledge that our members possess visible to policy makers, so that this knowledge can contribute to the development of a better help system.

We are an organization for those who want a society that takes care of the mental health of its members. We seek to engage as many people as possible in this, by building a support base for the work of Youth Mental Health Norway.

Through our local chapters we facilitate activities, networks and social policy work. The work of strengthening and taking care of our members’ resources, and of recruiting new ones, is at the top of our list.

Youth Mental Health Norway wants to be a clear voice in promoting mental health.

By establishing platforms for cooperation between users, relatives, public health and civil society, we work to ensure that everyone’s rights and opportunities are safeguarded. We create this space primarily through our sensitively designed projects.

We reach youth through a variety of arenas, whether it be in the boxing ring, hanging on a climbing wall or in one of our digital chat rooms.

Through our projects we aim to create more space to talk about what is difficult in life and how to overcome these. We create spaces for youth to find and support one another. No one should have to face the challenges of the world alone.
